Head priest of the Kanchi Sankara Mutt, Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi, passed away at Kanchipuram today.

PTI reported that he died following a cardiac arrest. He had been rushed to a private hospital after he complained of uneasiness and chest pain. He was 82.
