ASSAF GAVRON, the Israeli novelist whose most recent Israeli bestseller, The Hilltop, has just been published in paperback (Simon & Schuster) was in Los Angeles recently to speak at UCLA about “The Personal and the Political.”
Gavron was born in Israel in 1968.
He has worked at an Israeli technology company and is the singer and songwriter of the Israeli band The Mouth and Foot. He has also been a journalist, writing about music and food, and has translated into Hebrew works by J.
D. Salinger (Nine Stories), Philip Roth (Portnoy’s Complaint), and Jonathan Safran Foer (Everything Is Illuminated). Gavron is also the author of five novels and a collection of short stories.
